El Carmen is a small village
created in the 17th century.
A village of calm aspect, located at only 3 hours driving
from Lima to the south, or 15 minutes coming from Chincha's
downtown.
It’s settlers, descendants of African slaves brought to
America, became faithful believers of the “Virgen del
Carmen”, for whom they dance at the rhythm of the “cajón”.
This little village has turn into the main center
of creation for afro-peruvian music and dances, transmitted
generation by generation. Surrounded
by happy, “quimbosa” and creative people, you will feel
like in family.
